Tiny Originals

“Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Natelee Cocks, a very talented photographer currently working in Dubai, approached me earlier this year to hand craft two Tiny Originals for her husband Barry as a gift. Natelee asked him to reflect on his top five happiest memories of their time together and we selected two as the inspiration behind the original artworks.

The first one is a celebration of their trips to Thailand scootering around exploring, diving both scuba and snorkeling, and enjoying cold beers on deserted Island beaches. The second one is to commemorate their road trips in Barry’s favourite car where they camped, had radical little trips to Namibia and Cederburg up the Orange River. In Barry’s own words: “We were made for the outdoors.” Take a peek at the drawings from pencil, to ink and to the final Kiaat wooden hand framed artworks.

Natelee contacted me once more later this year to hand craft a gift for her very best friend since she was two years old, Elzaan, and her husband. They have shared so many happy memories but we decided that commemorating their traditional kitchen dance offs until the early morning hours would make for an inspired personal joke Tiny Original. Take a peek at the final product.
