One sunny Saturday morning in September fellow creatives gathered at the picturesque Prestwich Collection for our second Makers Ink & Gather workshop where we doodled the day away creating Tiny Original drawings. We sold out so fast we had to add a couple of seats when a few hearts were broken that they missed out on a ticket. There is something truly exceptional about these doodle days where people from all around Cape Town with various degrees of drawing experience gather to reconnect with their creative sides. Absolute beginners are unequivocally welcome and I adore seeing the pride they feel when they see what they are able to create with a little bit of coaching.
Thank you to each and every one of our attendees. You have all inspired me with your incredible creations and it was such a pleasure to share my personal illustration journey with you. A big thank you to the husband and wife dream team Lynn & Grant Shapiro who invited me to be one of the teachers. Your hard work and dedication has made all of this possible and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the Makers Workshops.
Thank you to our lovely attendees for their kind words:
“What a lovely way to spend a morning – rekindling my creativity and inspiring me to find more time to ‘make’. Thank you.” – Cathy
“Such a beautiful space for creatives to gather! Can’t wait to see what you do next!” – Emma-Jane
“For someone working in finance I never get the chance to get my creative brain working. I was a bit nervous and excited to attend and must say I am super proud of my little creation. This workshop really got me excited to start drawing on my spare time!” – Chantelle
“The Makers experience was something very out of the ordinary for me. I learnt some amazing new techniques, ideas and not to doubt myself. Magdalena is so passionate and inspiring, that it will keep me doodling and creating new illustrations. I already plan to add to my elephant image to create the big five for our future little one. I highly recommend this experience to all non artist and artist.” – Annabel
Each person received a beautiful Makers Tote Bag filled with exciting products and vouchers from delightful local brands including Wass, Party Bunch & Co, The Deckle Edge, Prestwich Collection, and of course, a fine art print from my personal collection. Bouwer Flowers donated the gorgeous foliage for attendees to use as reference for their practice sketches and Miss American Pie treated us to their delicious pastries.
If you are interested in attending our final Ink & Gather workshop for the year be sure to sign up here and get your tickets once they launch before they sell out.
